Mississippi Voter ID Bill Goes to the People

It is a landmark day for those in the Mississippi state legislature.  For over a decade they have battled back and forth over whether or not voters should be required to show identification when they arrive at the poles to vote.  Supports of the bill state that this will help cut down on voter fraud while those that oppose it believe it will alienate much of the older African American population.  A petition was started in 2009 to get this bill on the ballot and in the 2011 election it will be.  Read more at clarionledger.com.
