Andy Murray, ranked number 1 tennis player in with the British and 4th in the world, has parted from his coach of 2 ½ years. The US Open tennis 2010 begins August 30th and there is no immediate replacement coach in sight. Quite a surprising move for Murray and right before one of the biggest tennis events in the world he chooses to be on his own, or so it seems.
The question is: who will provide support and sustenance to Murray during this highly important phase of the tennis season, if it won’t be Miles Maclagan? According to a statement released by his management company, Murray will not review his coaching situation until after the US Open. He will instead depend on his trainer Jez Green and physio Andy Ireland as his core support. There seems to be an X-factor as well, Alex Corretja, whose role is that of wearing many hats such as adviser, consultant and part-time coach.
Murray could lose ranking points by letting go of his coach just before the US Open Tennis 2010, but there are rumors that Darren Cahill, who was a coach to Andre Agassi , Lleyton Hewitt and Fernando Verdasco might be in consideration to become Murray’s new coach.
Meanwhile, Murray is currently the one in charge of his own career and destiny. Who knows? It might just work out for Murray, his US Open tennis scores might let him walk away as the coachless champion. He might be setting a trend…nah.
